NRFI park factors: Coors 21/68, Camden 45/69

Coors Field NRFI is the question people type. The honest version is a table, a window, and the places our own static factors get the first inning wrong.

Two numbers per park:

  1. Observed. Regular-season games through September 3, 2026, from the MLB Stats API schedule with a completed first-inning linescore. Same join as the weather post. 2,109 games. Neutral sites with fewer than 20 games are listed under the table, not ranked in it.
  2. Static PARK_FACTORS. The per-venue run multiplier in server.py that The Full Count applies to both half-inning lambdas. 1.00 is neutral. This table is a full-game approximation, not a first-inning measurement.

The league NRFI rate on the board replay for these dates is 1,059/2,134 (49.6%). Parks are ranked by observed first-inning scoring, loudest first.

Dodger Stadium appears in the Stats API as “UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium” in 2026. PARK_FACTORS keys it as Dodger Stadium. Rate Field is also listed as Guaranteed Rate Field. Daikin Park is also listed as Minute Maid Park. Held out of the ranking (n under 20): Las Vegas Ballpark 1/6 NRFI, Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú 2/2, Field of Dreams 0/1, Journey Bank Ballpark 1/1.

The extremes

Coors Field. 21/68 first innings scoreless (30.9%). 1.50 runs per first inning. The static factor (1.28) is the largest in the table and the observed first inning agrees: this is the loudest regular park in the sample. A Coors NRFI lean is a bet against the loudest first inning in the league. The model already multiplies lambda by 1.28. It does not need a second story.

Globe Life Field. 26/69 (37.7%), 1.30 runs per first inning, static factor 1.02. That is the largest disagreement on the loud side. The multiplier treats Arlington as nearly neutral. The 2026 first inning has not been.

Oracle Park and Petco Park. Both 41/69 (59.4%). Runs per first inning 0.77 and 0.75. Static factors 0.90 and 0.93. The first inning in San Francisco and San Diego was as quiet as the table says, and then some. These are the parks the “best ballparks for NRFI” lists are reaching for. 69 games is still one season slice, not a career.

Oriole Park at Camden Yards. 45/69 (65.2%), the quietest regular park in the sample, 0.77 runs per first inning. Static factor 1.02. That is the largest disagreement on the quiet side. A full-game park factor that is slightly above neutral did not describe the 2026 first inning in Baltimore.

Comerica Park. 43/69 (62.3%), 0.74 runs per first inning, static 0.99. Detroit’s first inning was quieter than a neutral factor.

T-Mobile Park. Static 0.92 says pitcher park. Observed 30/69 (43.5%) says the 2026 first inning scored more than league. Full-game marine-air reputation and first-inning results are not the same thing.

Great American Ball Park. Static 1.12 is the second-loudest factor we ship. Observed 38/71 (53.5%) NRFI, slightly above the 49.6% league rate. A home-run park in the box score is not automatically a first inning that scores.

Yankee Stadium. Static 1.06. Observed 35/68 (51.5%) NRFI, near league. The short porch is a later-inning story more than an inning-one story in this sample.

Why the two columns disagree

PARK_FACTORS is a static run environment, applied as a multiplier on expected first-inning runs. The observed column is the first inning only, one season, through September 3, with the actual starters and the actual 1-2-3s. They should not match exactly. When they disagree a lot (Globe Life, Camden, T-Mobile, Great American), the honest reading is that the multiplier is a prior and 2026’s first inning is the data.

We are not swapping the static table for this year’s observed rates midstream. That would bake this season’s noise into tonight’s lambda. Publishing both is the correction.

Home versus away first-inning splits by team are a board filter (venue=home|away|game), not a second park factor. This page is the venue.

For the league number these parks sit inside, see how often the first inning is scoreless. For how the multiplier is applied inside The Full Count, see methodology.
